My family and I have thoroughly enjoyed our time in northern Nevada since relocating here in 2007. We never cease to be impressed by the array of activities and sights offered by this unique and wonderful place to live. I have found that we, like so many others who live here, treasure the community's many assets and well-defined identity.
We're fortunate to be a part of a community that is home to Nevada's first university, one that has become nationally recognized in academics and athletics, the University of Nevada, Reno. Northern Nevada has been chosen to be the headquarters of dozens of nationally recognized companies including Amazon.com, IGT, Intuit and Microsoft, among many others. For these reasons and so many more, our region is becoming recognized as one of the most progressive and rapidly growing communities in the west.
Northern Nevada Medical Center is proud to call Sparks our home. The city continues to set a high standard for quality of life in Nevada. It has become well known for the beautiful Sparks Marina, the convenient and diverse shopping of the Sparks Galleria and exciting events such as the Nugget's "Best in the West" Rib Cook-off and the Hometown Farmers Market at historic Victorian Square.
In 2008, Northern Nevada Medical Center celebrated our 25th year as Sparks' first and only hospital, one dedicated to serving the healthcare needs of the entire Truckee Meadows region, particularly for those on the eastern side of the valley. Despite our size, you may be surprised to learn that Northern Nevada Medical Center maintains a medical staff of more than 520 physicians and employs more than 350 staff members. We are widely recognized for our emergency services, orthopedics, surgical services, Senior Bridges behavioral health programs and for our recently opened Wound Care Center with hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Along with the dramatic growth in population of Sparks, Spanish Springs and communities to the east including Fernley, we too are undergoing revitalization on our campus. As a quality-driven organization, we are constantly challenging ourselves to reach new heights in patient care. In fact, we were just awarded the Health Insight Quality Award, recognizing our hospital for the greatest improvements in quality care among all Nevada hospitals in 2008.
We have invested in major renovations throughout the hospital that will better meet the healthcare needs of our region, whether for medical emergencies, outpatient diagnostic procedures, inpatient surgery or general healthcare.
We want to continue to be our community's first choice in healthcare and are doing what it takes to achieve that goal. I invite you to visit Northern Nevada Medical Center and consider us as your new partner in medicine. If you do, please stop by to say hello. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,

Mark W. Crawford
